Are there things I should be doing before
I see an attorney?

If you are contemplating divorce, you should immediately
seek the advice of an attorney. However, before you speak
with the attorney, you should begin compiling information.
Know your family’s financial situation. Photocopy documentation
of all sources of income and monthly expenses. Also copy
information regarding assets, including bank or investment
accounts, real estate, and retirement accounts, as well as the
past several years’ income tax returns and all insurance
policies.
